Founded in 1878, the monastic community of Subiaco Abbey reflects the Benedictine outlook on life: constant awareness of God, community living, the dignity of work, true hospitality, justice, listening, moderation, peace, respect of persons, stability and stewardship. These are qualities everyone could apply to his/her daily life.
The Subiaco Oblate program invites its members to do exactly that – live out their Benedictine Spirituality outside the monastery itself. In 1887 the monks founded Subiaco Academy, a college preparatory boarding and day school for young men in grades 7 – 12. The Academy strives to provide a Benedictine Education forming young men into the leaders of tomorrow.
This beautiful Monastery and related ministries are proof that the community takes its stewardship seriously. Webster’s describes stewardship as “…an individual’s responsibility for sharing…his time, talent and material possessions in the service of God and for the benefit of all mankind.” If your stewardship plans for the future include a gift to Subiaco Abbey and/or Academy, you will be joining many friends who wish to support the values we cherish.
